Mcamis has major problems in my book. Robin Dotson and David Vanover act the way a coach is supposed to act.
Clintwood girl's had the same problem a couple of years ago. It just wasn't broadcast like it should have been. Someone stepped up, and Dotson was forced out. I know parents are wrong most of the time, but you have to take up for your child when they are treated like dogs.
As for Wise football, they've had discipline problems as far back as I can remember.

When Wise football was so putrid at 1-9 all of the time,there were no disclipline problems because no one cared/had enough spirit to fight lol

Agree completely with what you say about Robin Dotson and David Vanover. There's some folks who could really take a lesson from those 2 gentlemn.

It's pretty much common knowledge that he tells his players to do that or lets it be known to, it's nothing new.

First, I would like to say that I am writing in regards to several comments made on this forum and I am just stating my opinion and in no way am I trying to provoke or anger anyone. I am just standing up for what I believe personally and also for someone that I care about.

I was at the game on Friday between Kelly & Burton. I am also a Kelly alumni. I do not know any of the Kelly players personally. From the very first quarter of the night, the refs did not have control of the game. I give them most of the blame for what happened that night. I am in no way going to accuse all of the Norton boys, but SOME came to Wise with an agenda. One in particular! And anyone that was at the game that night, either from Wise or Norton would have to agree, if they were being honest with themselves. It was one cheap shot after another, that was not being called by the refs. The statement that Coach McAmis purposely told his players to foul as hard as they can to disrupt the ball game is false. As the game continued, tempers flared and tensions grew on both sides. Fans on both sides started talking smack. As for the parent that got verbal with a Burton player, that is wrong. I guess when you feel like your child is being treated unfairly, we all could get a little crazy. I am NOT saying it is right, but again, if we are all honest, people act much differently when it is their child involved. Also, what the Norton fans could not see, was a player from Norton flipping off Wise fans, while holding his hand down beside of his shorts. To say it was a sad night for basketball, would be an understatement.

The main reason I chose to respond to this forum is the comments made regarding T.J. McAmis. I always find it so interesting to see how people look at not only pastors, but christians. T.J. is a human being and not perfect; he would be the first person to tell you that! I also, am not perfect! Are you?! T.J. is a wonderful coach and he loves his boys. Yes, he gets excited at games and yes, he yells and gets mad. Oh my goodness, do you think we should burn him at the stake?! He is a coach! And he is doing his job! I can remember back in the day Stan Wilson raising the roof at a Norton, Wise ball game. He was a great coach. No one ever thought he had major problems. And as for Robin Dotson, who I think is a wonderful coach, you should have seen him coach Friday night. He also was shouting and screaming. Just doing their jobs being coaches.

I am 44 years old and I have had a lot of wonderful pastors in my lifetime, but I have never been so proud to call someone my pastor as I am now with T.J. McAmis! He loves the Lord with all his heart and he puts God first, then his family and then his job. I wish you all would come for a visit to our church and see for yourselves how God's love shines through T.J. when he is preaching. I guess we all feel this way, but I think we have a wondeful church filled with love. Come as you are, but don't leave as you came.

Criticize T.J.'s coaching if you must, but PLEASE don't question his faith, because I can tell you that nothing in this world is more important to him. I hope that you all have a wonderful 2010 and be blessed.

Good post, only problem is that no one said a word about his faith or anything like that. Only thing that was mentioned, was him being a bad coach. I don't think anyone cares what he does off the court, I don't, nice advertising but really it's about his coaching...and that's all that was mentioned on here. Yes he has said that to his players or he did when I played, pretty much all of Wise Co. knows that. I don't care what he does off the court, but he's not a good coach, Kelly underachieves year in and out because of it...they've had some talent, with a lot of experience, do nothing the past few years.

Lisa you just hit hard on one aspect of your post that I couldn't agree with you more on. To get on here and take a shot or judge anyone by calling them out on the subject of religion is absolutely absurd. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone. Each of us has (or hopefully has) our own personal relationship with God,and he alone will be the one to judge us when our race is run. If you want to call TJ a butt,jerk,bad coach..whatever,then have at it. TJ is grown man and he can handle that (part of what you sign up for as a head coach),but lay off of his religion/pastorship/relationship with God (you aren't there when the man is talking to his God). This is a sports discussion regarding a basketball game,and like I said before nobody on here is perfect or has lived a perfect life. There was one many years ago,but he'd laugh at this little board today

I haven't seen JJKelly play but friends told me that McAmis purposely told his players to foul as hard as they can to disrupt a game. It has happened in several games already in just this season, not counting other seasons. This coach is supposed to be a minister of a church, sounds like one whacked out preacher, he should'nt be preaching or coaching it sounds like to me.
